APA 6th Ed. Style – Journal Article Citing Error

In EndNote X5 an error has been discovered in the APA 6th edition publication style.  The error may cause some journal articles to be cited incorrectly in a bibliography.  The problem is the template used to cite journal articles includes the “Type of Article” field.  If there is an entry in the “Type of Article” field in a reference’s EndNote record the information in that field will be included in the citation to the journal article in the bibliography.  This is NOT the correct APA format for a journal article citation.

To correct this problem download and install a revised copy of the APA 6th publication style available on the University Libraries EndNote web page, or edit the APA 6th Publication style from within EndNote.  Instructions on how to do both are available in the EndNote web page’s News and Help section.

How to Make EndNote X4 MAC Plugin Appear in Word Mac 2008?

Nov. 19, 2010 – Yingting

Question: I installed EndNote X4 on my Mac computer, but I don’t see the EndNote plugin in Word. How can I add the plugin in Word?

Answer: EndNote X4 for Mac is not compatible with Word (Mac) v. 12 and below. In order to make EndNote X4 for Mac work with Word on your Mac, you need to make sure that your Word program has been upgraded to at least v.12.1.0  and up. So please check your Word to see what version it is. If it is below v. 12, you need to apply the updates for Word in Mac. Hope this helps. If you have any question, please contact your campus librarians for help.
