EndNote X8 Now Available to Rutgers Users

EndNote X8 for Windows and Mac is now available for download by Rutgers users at http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/endnote. EndNote X8 is compatible with Mac OS Sierra (iOS 10.12). If you are using a Mac running Sierra, you must use EndNote X8, because EndNote X7.7 and earlier versions are not compatible with Sierra.

EndNote X8 Features:

  • Compatible with Windows 7-10 and Mac OS X 10.10 to 10.12.
  • The new intuitive icons are identical across both Mac and Windows, making it easier for users to identify icons.
  • Updated workflows for finding reference updates and enabling updating the whole set of references at once instead of updating one by one.
  • Possible to edit the updated references manually.
  • The Sync button in the Group Pane can be configured to sync or not to sync with EndNote online.
  • Only one desktop library can be synced with an online account.
  • When syncing a library different from the previous one synced, it will merge the libraries.
  • Sharing a library with up to 100 other EndNote desktop users.
  • Anyone sharing a library has editing rights.
  • The new Activity Feed feature allows users to see what their colleagues are doing in the Shared Library and when new members join. 
  • Every X8 library includes a built in Recently Added group which can be customized, allowing users to pick up right where they left off in the research workflow.
  • Utilize unlimited file attachment storage in the online library.
  • Cite While You Write for Microsoft Word 2016

There is a Problem Installing EndNote for Mac Running Sierra

Question: I downloaded EndNote from our University Libraries website to my MAC running Sierra. Why was I promoted to enter a product key when installing it.

Answer: It is a known issue that there is a problem installing EndNote for Mac running macOS Sierra. Our IT folks are working hard on resolving the issue. As soon as the problem is solved, I will post it here. So please visit back for updates. We are sorry for any inconvenience that was caused to you.

University-Wide Access to EndNote Now Available

Rutgers University Libraries are now licensed to provide university-wide access to EndNote for all Rutgers students, faculty, and staff. Rutgers users can download EndNote at http://www.libraries.rutgers.edu/EndNote either within or outside the Rutgers network using their NetID. When downloading the program, you should not be asked to enter a product key. Here are the tips for installations.

A train-the-trainers session for RU librarians will be conducted on Wednesday, October 26, 2016, 1:00pm-2:30pm in the Pane Room of Alexander Library. A workshop “Introduction to EndNote X7.7” for researchers has also been scheduled for Thursday, Oct 27, 2016, 12:00pm-1:30pm at the Conference Room of LSM. Two other training sessions for New Brunswick graduate students and faculty have been arranged by the New Brunswick Graduate and Faculty Services Team. Training session for Newark will be scheduled soon.

EndNote X7.5.1 for MAC Is Now Available

For Rutgers RBHS users, if you are using EndNote on a MAC, please upgrade your EndNote from X7.4 to X7.5.1 so that it will be compatible with MS Word 2016 for MAC. To upgrade, please follow the steps below:

  • In EndNote X7.4 for MAC, under the EndNote X7 menu, choose “Check for Updates …”
  • Follow the instructions to install the latest version EndNote X7.5.1.1.

EndNote X7.3 Now Available

April 22, 2015 – Yingting Zhang

The latest update to EndNote X7 was just released early this month. EndNote X7.3 provides improvements to Cite While You Write, library sharing, Groups, Sync, and Reference Manager database conversion. To install the update, for Mac OS X, in EndNote X7, under the EndNote menu, choose “Check for Updates”. For Windows, in EndNote X7, under the Help menu, choose “Check for Updates…”. EndNote 7.2 Now Available

October 2, 2014

An update to EndNote (EndNote X7.2) has been released and it is ready for installation. In this update, users now have the ability to share their library with up to 14 users.  With library sharing, users can:

  • include anyone who’s using EndNote X7 (with up to 14 people)
  • Sync attachments, notes, and annotations in real-time for collaboration.
  • Share your entire EndNote library, including references, PDFs, and annotations
  • Everyone can add to, annotate and use the library – at the same time
  • There’s no charge for sharing, no library size limit and no charge for unlimited cloud storage

EndNote for Legacy RU Schools & Units which are Now RBHS

If you are a user from School of Pharmacy, legacy RU College of Nursing, or the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy and Aging Research, you may download EndNote software onsite only. Due to RU network restrictions, wireless or remote downloading of EndNote is not available at this time for these users.
